The romance genre considered by many to be a joke. Book reviewers constantly accuse it of being poorly written, anti-feminist drivel. Readers make porn jobs. Even other authors look down their noses at romance writers. It can be totally exhausting for romance authors and readers alike to constantly be batting away the criticisms.
A short time ago I published a piece on shit people say to booksellers and librarians about romance novels (read here) and got to wondering about the shit romance authors hear when they tell people what they write.
