Operation Emoji

Updated: Jan 17, 2019

Emojis are an every day part of my life. I like finding the perfect emoji to describe how I'm feeling so I don't have to think of the words with my tired nanny brain. Over the holidays I started wondering, "What if I had to describe my favorite romance novels using only emojis?" It sounded hard. So, instead of doing it myself, I asked the authors to do it.

Below you'll find the seven romance authors to whom I issued the challenge: Describe one of your novels using only emojis (and the occasional symbol).

I encourage you to scroll through and check out the different combinations of emojis and see if any of them spark an interest that has you wanting to learn more about the book. I've left off the names of the books the authors have chosen so that, if you're familiar with the author, you still have the chance to guess which novel they're talking about. But, don't worry, I've included the titles and links to purchase at the bottom.

A special thanks to all the authors who participated in this challenging assignment!

Brianna Hale

There's nothing Brianna Hale likes more than a large, stern alpha male with a super-protective and caring streak, and when she's not writing about them she can usually be found with a book, a cocktail, planning her next trip to a beautiful location or attending the theatre. Katia Rose

Katia Rose enjoys her romance served steamy with a side of smart and is a sucker for quirky characters. Her Sherbrooke Station series is a quartet of rock star rom-coms that follows an alt-rock band in Montreal throughout their rise to fame. katiarose.com

Adore Ian

Adore Ian grew up in a mixed race family in Hawaii and has loved steamy romance novels ever since finding a Harper paperback discarded on the sidewalk when she was a kid. She’s a proud dyslexic, a loud intersectional feminist, and a lover of standard poodles. She lives with her man-friend on the east coast where she spends too much time bunny watching and not enough time writing. She believes the ingredients to good romance are too much smut, quality fluff and angst, and a dash of guerrilla sex ed. Her novels are best enjoyed with a slice of pizza and an ice cold beer.

Trilina Pucci

Trilina decided, 3 years ago, that between making grilled cheese sandwiches and running carpool she was going to write saucy novels for readers to titillate and excite them. She hasn't slowed down since! Trilina has always had a love of writing, as a child she would journal and typically change the ending of whatever she was writing to suit her daydream. A knack for storytelling has translated into her debut, as an author, being met with rave reviews. trilinapucci.com
