Review: Tessa Bailey does a wonderful job of writing fast-paced, believable romance. There is never a boring moment between the covers of her books. This rom-com is top tier stuff. The type of book you hope you get every time you click "Buy Now" on Amazon.
Addison is a brash, go-her-own-way type of gal. She's unapologetic about who she is, but at the same time struggles with her insecurities. She's the heroine we understand because she reminds us of us. Her willingness to help Elijah starts out as selfish--a momentary attraction to a gorgeous man--but her continued assistance comes from a beautiful place deep inside Addison, the part of her that wants to matter to someone.
Elijah is an imperfect hero. He was born and raised for greatness, but he still isn't happy. And he makes many, many missteps on his way to finding and keeping his happiness. Some of those missteps made me want to tear my hair out and scream at him, but he finds his way eventually.
Their chemistry is amazing. I don't remember the last time I was on the edge of my seat waiting for two people to get it on. I mean, you always want your characters doing the nasty, but for god's sake I was practically panting for Addison and Elijah. The build up was long, but the moment they finally came together was so worth the wait (which in reality wasn't actually that long).
Everything about Getaway Girl was perfection. The banter was hilarious, the plot was surprisingly unique, and the drama was *muah* absolutely delicious. And Tessa has revealed the cover for Elijah's runaway bride's story and it looks so freaking amazing I can hardly stand to wait.
