Earning Her Trust by Adore Ian

Updated: May 17, 2020

Blurb: She ran from her past… right into his arms.

Marrin Braxton is scarred—physically and emotionally. As a result, she separates her college life from her personal life and makes a point not to trust anyone. Especially guys.

So when she secretly starts sleeping with her hot neighbor, Damian Wane, she makes it clear it’s just sex. Good, kinky sex.

And boy, is it kinky. In the bedroom, Damian is everything Marrin needs. He’s dominant, bossy, and says the filthiest things. Damian makes her submit in ways she never thought possible, and when he’s in charge, she’s able to let go of her need for control and just be.

But it’s how Damian makes her feel outside the bedroom that threatens to tear down the walls Marrin has built around her life and her heart. It’s a loss of control she’s not sure she can handle, and when a man from her past shows up to terrorize her, it’s a loss of control she’s not sure she’ll survive.

Damian Wane is used to getting what he wants. He’s rich, handsome, and gifted with the kind of soulful eyes every person, pet, and vegetable dreams of getting lost in.

After his first night with Marrin, he’s hooked. She’s everything he needs in the bedroom. She’s eager, submissive, and wants him in ways no one ever has before. But it’s the ways he finds himself wanting her, the scars he wants to show her, that have him unable to keep things between them casual. He doesn’t want to let her go, and he’s not willing to share.

But Marrin’s keeping secrets and Damian doesn’t want to be one of them.

If he can earn her trust, he just might make Marrin his. But if he pushes too far, pries too deep, he might lose everything.

Review: When I first started reading Adore Ian's Earning Her Trust I was sure that the author must be a seasoned writer in the romance genre. Three pages in and I was hooked beyond belief by the characters and the author's intensely moving writing style. I fell into the story within seconds and didn't bother to climb back out.

First things first, you'd 100% be getting your monies worth with that bad boy. This is probably one of the longest contemporary romance novels I've read in quite a while. I don't think I ever really felt that it was too long though. I kept checking my progress on my Kindle and being surprised that there was so much left, but I was never bored or tired of reading it. I think Adore did a fabulous job of pacing the story and keeping it exciting all the way through.

Both our hero and our heroine are flawed characters with dark pasts and tumultuous presents. There's mommy issues, daddy issues, sexual abuse, physical abuse, stalking, so please take heed of my trigger warning regarding this novel.

Marrin was a little grating at times, but with what she suffered I think she deserves to be a little bit of a pain in the rear. She's full of secrets and refuses to trust anyone, not even her closest friends, with her issues. I liked that despite all her baggage she wasn't a simpering woman waiting to be rescued. She was strong and independent and made Damian work to be a part of her inner circle.

Adore gave Damian a past that we don't often see in our heroes. He was hot and commandeering, and totally alpha, but there was a sensitive, secretive side of him that just wanted to be loved. Watching him work to earn Marrin's trust and really build a respectful, consensual sexual relationship with her took the whole book to another level. He was definitely a unique, modern day man.

The sexiness level in this novel is through the freaking roof. Sometimes boundaries and consent can be a little blurry in romance novels (much like the real world) but Adore really created a wonderful book where the characters are engaging in the role playing together and it's respectful while still being incredibly hot. Both characters knew how to tango, if you know what I mean.

There are a lot of secondary characters that didn't get as much attention as I would have liked, but I'm eager to learn more about them in the remaining books in the series. I cannot wait to see where Adore's brain takes the stories next.

Her book is out today (10/9) so head to Amazon now and download your e-book. You won't regret adding this little piece of sexiness to your shelf. Also, check out Adore Ian in October's Author Spotlight section of the blog. She's an absolute hoot!
