Bass-Ackwards by Eris Adderly

This was the first book I read during TBR Takedown Month, based on an amazing recommendation by my Patreon supporter, Alan. Man, do my people have some good recommendations.

Blurb: Bill Marshall might as well have been the Devil.

Christina Lee Dodd needs Friday off work. Needs. She's up to her eyeballs in problems. One of those problems is her boss, Bill Marshall. And Bill Marshall is an a**hole.

The offer he makes is textbook inappropriate. An HR nightmare. But is it wrong for her to accept? Is it wrong for her to like it?

Review: I read the blurb and immediately was like, "Ehhhh, his name is Bill?" I don't know. A little too suburban Dad with a beer gut for me. But, honestly, I think I like that now? A lot. Anyways, this book is so off the rails, so totally unrealistic that it was actually magnificent.

From page four I was completely sold on the gruff, grumpy, kind of a piece of shit Bill Marshall. He runs a truck rental location (like a sexy U-Haul rental company owner) and when his lovely female administrator asks for a day off he tells her she can have it if she spreads her legs and lets him take her right then and there.

Christina is just the perfect heroine for this. She doesn't fight it. She just lets her dirty old man boss take her over and over again and run her ragged and just toy with her until they're both hot messes, obsessed with each other, and unable to not fucking in a public space.

Cue me melting into a puddle on the floor of my living room. It's been a long, long time since a book made me straight up blush in the privacy of my own home but it happened and I'm pretty shocked about it. Normally I have to take breaks from angst-overload but this time I had to take breaks because I literally could breathe from all the filth. I was drowning in it.

Usually I'm like "romance novels aren't just smut" but in this case... it's smut, like 98% smut, and it's gooooooood. So fucking good. So if pretty young things being encouraged to fuck their bosses for extra money and possessive, older guys who hanging on to their employee's panties for a really long time are your thing then, holy cow, this is the book for you.
